Scariest Moment In Your Ranger.

This thread is exactly what it says it is. a thread about scary moments in your ranger. Such as, almost flipping it. wrecking it. almost being hit by a train.

The scariest moment ive ever had in mine is the first ice storm when i had no weight in the back. i did three circles going down a hill on a busy street with cars parked along the side. i ended up backed into a driveway that had a telephone pole not 3 feet from it and cars on both sides. it scared me senseless.

Slipped on a little ice on a short overpass at 60 mph…road was bare and wet (except for this concrete section) I was pointing at the HOV lane when I cleared the overpass and regained grip on the pavement. At least I was turning into the slide, that would've been ugly otherwise.

id say ive had a couple scares like that to but not doing 60. ahhhhh

couple years ago in my 01 during a snow storm i drifted my truck a couple hundred feet,a nd ended up bouncing the front end off a guard rail

nothing too scary, just the typical "my ass end is starting to slide around because it's icy on the roads" type scare.

almost flipped my ranger about a month ago comming home from work. For some reason my rear tire fell off the side of a narrow road and it was a large drop off from the pavement to the grass and my truck went completely sideways on dry pavement. I though I was done lol

My scariest moment was when I rear ended some Mexicans and slammed into them. I didn't hurt them or the explorer. But my valance was doomed. Which lead me to buy the 01/03 Edge valance.

Exactly 1 year ago today, I almost rolled my truck while offroading in the snow and rain.

I was on a trail/road that is raised compared to the rest of the field. there's a 4'-5' ditch on one side and a slope of rocks about 500' long on the other side. There's a slight uphill turn to the left, I had my truck in 2 wheel drive because the snow itself was only 2" deep, nothing the pro comps couldnt handle. Anyways, as soon as I start to go up the slight left hand turn, the back end throws posi and puts my driver side back tire down off the path. So, needless to say Im a tad bit worried, I put it in 4-Hi, front tires proceed to spin and it sends my drivers side front tire off the trail. so now 2 tires on the path, 2 tires off. Im slanting relatively hard to my left. So i turned all the way to the right with the truck in 4-low and it pretty much just spins. So after a minute of thought, I decided to turn all the way to the left (the way the truck is slanted) and in reverse, my thought was that I could get the front end to swing around so I'd technically be perpendicular to the path. Well, it worked. But now im in a slight more difficult predicament due to the fact that the rocks that I am now on are pretty large rocks, like basketball sized and up. So literally after about 15 minutes of digging myself into a hole. I got out and started stacking rocks into the holes where I was stuck, I also had to move an exceptionally large rock that was against my grille guard. So when I moved said rock, I broke my right pointer finger when the rock crushed it in between another rock. So after a minute of strong cursing, I had a conversation with the truck, I got in, took a breathe, and it climbed right out and back onto the path. Im getting sick to my stomach just thinking about it now.

I have yet to have any major oh shit moments in the 03, except for when the O/D Off light came on not a week after I owned the truck. I literally felt a pain in my wallet. Luckily for me, I had just accidentally hit the O/D Off button in the gear selector.

However, I did have an oh shit moment in my other Ranger, when the other car faced me head on in my lane. Since it was at night, his headlights were on, which magnified the "oh shit" 6 times more. And then I got another "oh shit" out when I swerved, and the only way to go was into the woods. I hope that ****** that crossed into my lane and then kept going rots in hell for that night.

Mine came back in Hawaii in 93 when i was turning left onto the main road on Barbers Pt and a big 12 passenger ram duty van was coming down the road with the right turn signal on. Took only a split second but I kinda figured out they weren't turning. Somehow my ankle managed to bend the emergency brake against the side and bent the door out about an inch without breaking the glass and needed about $5000 in bodywork.
The other time was watching my life flash before my eyes when a rather hurried driver of a Black lifted F150 came swerving head on into my lane to get around another driver stopped to turn left. Lucky for me, they managed to swerve back into the other lane and rear end the next car stuck turning left. My wife and daughter were in the truck as well.

ive had alot of o shit moments in my ranger over the 12 years or so that ive been driving them but one that stands out the most was when i got busted by the cops having sex with my girlfriend in it down a 2 track about 10 years ago. lol

Getting sideways going down a logging road when I touched my brakes. Fortunately I managed to straighten out without doing any damage to the truck or myself. That convinced me right then and there to get rid of the piece of shit factory Goodyear tires.
