i never thought about using those for sand! always thought of them as more for mud. in a pinch, though, we've used floormats to get out of a sand pit haha. worked beautifully
I never go out anywhere without a topo map.
and whoever said pop tarts, I totally do keep those in my truck... and eat them lol

Those actually look really really helpful. What does $300 AUD come out to in American dollars though?
Seems kinda expensive. Excellent looking product though!

Re: Off-Road Items
Can someone post a pic of the type of tow strap you are talking about. I keep one of those straps with the hooks in my truck. I used it to pull a tree down.

Saw them @ the SEMA show, and they looked extremely durable and grippy. They received my vote for best new product.

Re: Off-Road Items
A couple of 2x6s or 2x8s for supports for the jack. Never know when the ground will be soft. Set the jack on them and they will help spread the weight out so you do not push the jack into the ground.
add a base for a hi-lift jack is not a bad addition either. More stable base to lift a truck with.

Here are some more things I always carry that I have not read on the lists yet.
Fire starters, strike anywhere matches in a water tight case, lighter, hatchet, bow saw, compass, maps, extra clothes, Large first aid kit.
And always make sure someone knows where you are going and when you expect to return. I know it sounds silly, but if something would ever happen people will know where to start looking.
