Default alternative idea when wanting a paint job.....

I've started the process of preparing my ranger for a flat black paint job due to the state the original paint was in with a lot of scratches etc. Now I'm not sure on the cost but what if....... I were to have my truck wrapped with a vinyl instead of doing a paint job? I've seen some awesome outcomes with this from people doing a matte color vinyl wrap and other colors. What's your inputs?

Ummm,
That's not a vinyl wrap...
That's actually a stretched Rabbit with the rear section fenced for transporting sheep and goats.
(saw a vid about it on some crazy transport site once)

Wraps suck, after a bit of time, they fall apart. In my opinion that is a waste of money. I would rather see you rattle can the whole thing than do the wrap

Damn, you're right. Would make a damn fine graphic though.

You can spot a rattle can job all the way across a Walmart parking lot. At least borrow a compressor and use a Harbor Freight gun and some real paint.

wraps look good for about the first 6 months to a year if your luvcky then they turn to pure chit... not only that but you'll pay 2-3 x's what you would for a good paint job for the wrap....

Doing a wrap was something I'd been thinking about for a golf cart that I'm redoing for the campground. After reading about several different brands I kept seeing that unless you plan on redoing the wrap every year or two, it isn't worth it. Golf cart is now getting a bed liner treatment.

But yeah, I'd rattle can before wrapping. I'd use even a cheap gun and compressor before rattling canning another square inch of a vehicle (had a Tempo way back that had sun damaged paint on the deck lid, a Chevy C1500 with rotted fender wells and cab corners...I've done my share of rattle canning).

Duplicolor makes it pretty easy. They've got paint that you don't have to mix. Just get it in the gun and spray (after prep work obviously). It isn't HoK quality but it'll work and is probably at least as good as most factory paints these days (mostly because they spray them so thin).

$.99 flat black walmart brand is great spray paint better than most $6-$9 cans, shoot it at cool temps and it will turn out fine... or for $3,000.00 I can do something radical. www.facebook.com/InsaneWorks
