I REALLY don't want to deal with the headache of swapping an A/C compressor/lines/condensor from another Ranger as it will definitely mean down time which I can't afford.

Sliding rear window is a definite, just easier on the freeway/quieter and much better airflow.

Maybe rig up a small cooler with ice/fan, Ive seen cheap little inserts for coolers on ebay with a 12V fan built in for like $35

What's this about a "cool box" with dry ice?

In the 40s-60s these swamp coolers were mounted to the side window of vehicles, and when air passed thru the unit, the dry ice would cool the interior. Here is what they look like:

I think they ONLY mount on passenger side.
Too bad, cuz it would look wild to havenone on each side.
It would look like Jets!

The normal "fuel" for swamp coolers was water just like a swamp cooler in a house. Rapid evaporation of water in dry air reducing the temperature.

i used to work with a guy who had a house air conditioner hanging out the rear slider on his beat up old POS chevy, looked trashy as hell but he said it worked great.

Id like to know how hard is it to remove the entire unit of air conditioner, pully, condensor, everything, my right front spring mount broke so it chewed up the condensor when the suspension peice got up there cutting holes in it, id rather remove it to have easy access to say plugs and such on the right hand side of the engine bay, so is there any harm in going in there with wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers and trying to remove the entire unit completely?

It's a 92 and in rough shape, but it runs so simplicity when working on it is what I'm going for, any input would be great.
