My ranger has been setting idle for 3 years (never driven nor started). I put a fuel stabilizer in the tank at the first of the storage. I'm now wanting to get it road ready for my 16 year old son. I first have to get it started. I can't hear the fuel pump hum when the key is turned. Also prior to storage the gas g was not giving a true reading of full vs. Empty. Question: Since it hasn't been started in 3 years, the gas g is not working and it won't start should I by default replace the fuel pump?
This is a great site and I've learned a lot by searching older post. Thanks in advance for all responses!!
Is the battery dead? If so the fuel pump won't be able to run. If that's not the problem, check the fuel pump fuse. Also, when my pump went up, if I banged in the bottom of the fuel tank, it would kind of give the pump a jolt and it would start.
