Default What type of oil in my '02 Ranger?

Hi
I'm doing my first oil change on my "new" '02 Ranger FX4 4.0 V6. The oil cap in the engine says "5W-30", so should I just go with this, or does anyone have any tips?

Mat

Do a synthetic 5w30 with a motorcraft filter

Why do you think Ford has 5w-30 on the oil cap?

I'm old fashioned and trusting - I've always used motorcraft 5w30 regular oil (not synthetic) in my truck since it was brand new.

This.

I use Mobil 1, or Motorcraft makes a 5w-30 synthetic that you can pick up a your local auto parts store or Wally World while you're grabbing the filter.

oil weight is dictated by internal bearing clearance. Go with what the engine requires.
