Default Occasionally my truck has trouble starting (85 carburated ranger) and it...

...struggles for a couple of minutes.? sometimes you have to put the gas to the floor and then crank it for 20 seconds or so, when it does go it studders and runs really ruff at a really low RPM, then after a minute or 2 it will all of a sudden come to life. Is this the fuel pump? or maybe electrical? I dunno.

have you clean the carb or added any fuel treatment or have you adjusted the choke which is easy thing try cleaning first replace air filter clean with choke cleaner and might find the way to adjust here not hard thing to do

in an 85 motor it seems like you have a faulty choke pull off, locate the choke and see if it holds vacuum, it may be broken or jammed open

is the choke working? it could be the gas filter too. i,am not saying it,s not the pump but change the filter first.
