Default getting her ready for "work"

hello, im new to the community... its been a great site so far!

I've had my 2002 ranger edge 2wd since new. its got 130xxx miles on her and running excellent after a recent tune up of plugs, wires, coil, fuel filter and cam shaft syncronizer... but my main question is what should i take into consideration to get her ready for some heavey towing? ive always towed with her, but this time i will be towing 2900lbs worth of boat, which is very close to capacity. it will be a tandom trailer.

i know it needs new shocks and i was thinking about changing the rear end to 4:10s also... any suggestions on shocks and others would be greatly appreciated. i would be towing no longer then 2hrs away at the max. is in necessary to change the rear end or am i over thinking this?

Post the info of your truck in your sig Bud , it would help us determine what type of engine you have 3L or 4L? Auto or Manual, etc

If its an auto trans I would def look at adding an additional trans cooler, and I would make sure the brakes are all in good working order and if the trailer you are pulling is equipped with electric brakes I would add a brake controller to your truck as well.
