Default Oil Type

Does anyone know if new Rangers come with synthetic oil in them?

Probably Not. If it did it would be the oil they recommend to put back in it and it would be listed on the cap.

I think its a synthetic blend. But you might as well change out to synthetic. Its much better oil.

I seriously doubt it, you may want to put this question in the proper engine tech or general discussion tech sections

No and from what I understand, there is a break in period during which it is not recommendable to use full synthetic. It'll inhibit the rings from seating.

It's only better oil if you live in an extremely cold climate or do extended length oil changes. Motorcraft 5w20 blend oil is excellent and cheap.

It IS a blend. Motorcraft 5w20 is a synthetic blend oil. If you go to the parts store more and more oil companies are switching their 5w20 oils to either blend or full synthetic. In fact Ford doesn't even make a 5w20 conventional oil any longer. Stick with a blend or go full synthetic.

Here it is straight from Ford. Yes, the Motorcraft 5W-20 installed at the factory is a semi-synthetic blend. It is the "recommended" but not required for warranty oil type. Judging by the specs / price (3.99 @ Autozone) I will stick with that oil for now.

Thanks for all the help

Wayne
