It seems to me that everything is old is new again. When I heard the "rumor" about the new Ranger resembling a 1956 F100 I looked into it and it did seem true up until people tried to pre order them and the orders were refused. Can you imagine a brand new Ford Ranger that has modern technology underneath but looks like this:



How kool would that be and to have extra engine options to go along with it. Too bad Ford has their heads so far up their asses for them to see the true potential of the Ford Ranger pickup. Ford won't even let you order a V8 crate engine from a dealer, and they won't install it for you either. Even if you offer to pay them top dollar, and order additional parts as needed to complete the swap they won't do it. It seems they don't have any passion for this truck at all any more.

Unfortunately, the Ranger is done. The Ranger has been tapped out of it's appeal, and although it is still a very useful pickup truck, usefulness doesn't sell vehicles anymore, it's all about mass appeal. Besides, we've had almost 30 years of Ranger, that's pretty damn good if I do say so myself. All good things must come to an end. The best thing any of us can do to keep the Ranger alive is to simply take care of ours, and keep them on the road for as long as we can. Trust me man, if Ford were to re-design the Ranger, it would be an absolute piece of crap with so much plastic on it, the first car you hit at 5mph would result in a total loss. Ford has put their vehicles into the future a little too fast, and most of us aren't ready for the plastic and all the electronics. So let's just be happy with the 28 years of relatively simple Rangers we've had, and just do our best to make sure that we keep as many Rangers on the road as we can.

MOST people wouldn't buy something that looked like that... and by most I mean everyone except for the OP.

Makes me laugh when people don't understand the concept of mass production and they wonder why Ford won't make unlimited engine options for vehicles or make them a special one off vehicle with the engine of their choice even if they "will pay for it"

Well I may have I wasn't sure. I do understand mass production, it would cost too much to do something like this for the Ranger. You'd have to change all of the tooling and you'd need sales to back this idea up which the ranger doesn't have at this time. I just thought it would be a good idea to try a little something different. I didn't say unlimited engine options, the new 5.0 engine would be just enough.
