Unhappy stronge Gas smell from rear window

Hi I recently purchased my 94 ranger splash step side, from a not so honest person..
I get 3.9 miles to the gallon. I have changed the fuel pump & lines,Fuel tank filler neck hose, Rear main seal. rear wheel cylinders front bearings, thermostat and gas cap. Replacing the rear end 2marrow, the drive shaft has to much play.thought it was my U joint. I smell gas very strong coming from my rear window. when taking off from a stop. It don't smell when in idle. There are no leaks around the injectors. Can't see leaks any where. Please help if you have any Ideas. Lost & confused..

Who told you that your drive shaft has too much play and that you have to fix it by replacing the rearend - but couldn't spot a gas leak?

I don't understand your post. If you've got people telling you you need this and that replaced, why can't they spot this leak? Gasoline is light enough to hide and not make obvious drips.

Welcome to the forums.

Check integrity of gas tank fill pipe to tank seal, it is a common failure item and spills gas upon vehicle movement.

If you smell UNburnt fuel then you have a leak somewhere.

Gasolines boiliing point is very low and therefor difficult to chase when it's warm out at all.

Get a buddy, or 5, and get under that truck while it's running. Yup, find that vapor leak somewhere.

Start at the gas cap, and work all the way to the injectors and back to the tank.

Gas cap and seal
Filler neck and both connections
Fuel pump insert O-ring/seal (smell it)
Fuel lines
Fuel filter connections
Fuel connections at the fuel rail (both in and out)
Fuel VENT line from PCV/VACUUM system to tank.:: I had this vent elbow break off the tank on my Jeep and cause massive fuel loss.

Any connection that looks WAAAAY to clean, is getting covered in gas, and probably leaking, gas is a wonderful cleaner (not that I recommend cleaning your hands with it, Dad)

will wait for report back
