observations: Colorado/Canyon Vs. Ranger
Before I decided to by a new Ranger I was looking at the Colorado/Canyon. I had a chance to test drive two of them (both were GMC Canyons) and the Ranger is a far better truck. I drove a 2007 model and a 2005 model with the I5 5 cylinder engine and my impressions were that the engine is lacking the torque of the 4.0 litre Ford.
Every little upgrade the transmission was downshifting.... step on the gas another downshift. The truck is nice looking and drives fairly well but it is not a Ranger and I was quickly cured of my desire to own one.

Re: observations: Colorado/Canyon Vs. Ranger
plus when they dropped the s-10 line and adapted it to the canyon/colorado they changed some stuff on the truck to where if and when you change the engine it had to be done by dropping the frontend outta the truck... or at least thats what my mechanic tells me...

Unfortunately its cheaper for them just to discontinue the ranger...the inline 5's are crap, plus a friend of mine has a colorado and has had to have the heads replaced and a bunch of other crap and it still doesn't run right. At least its under warranty, I keep telling him to trade it in for a ranger but he won't listen.

Re: observations: Colorado/Canyon Vs. Ranger
I work at a chevy dealer. Colorado's are a complete shithole. I hate them. They are practially the same engine wise and interior wise as a hummer. they're just stupid. i hate how they drive. nothing compared to my ranger.

Re: observations: Colorado/Canyon Vs. Ranger
Yeah, I almost bought a Colorado with the I5. Got a Silverado with a V8 instead
I felt like my Ranger with a bent valve was a better truck the Colorado I test drove, although it was a pretty nice truck. Had a topper and a 5 speed if I remember right. I could be wrong on that though, because that was the whole reason why I wanted to get rid of my Dodge I had, lol.

Re: observations: Colorado/Canyon Vs. Ranger
The colorado made the list of one of the most unreliable vehicles for like 2009 or 2010. Theyre nice looking trucks and all, but just like the S-10 theyre shit. Chevy designs crappy suspensions too. I only bow down to the Corvette. Everything else is poo, including the camaro, its to fat and gimmicky. The mustang is a true enthusiasts vehicle.
Sorry for the Ford > Chevy rant!

That only applies to the 2010 Camaro; before 2011 the GT was a joke, sorry ; )

Re: observations: Colorado/Canyon Vs. Ranger
the C6 isn't really overpriced; Zo6 and Zr1 both perform admirably and will give those 150k exotics a run for their money. Plus they gave us the almighty LS engine series which has found its way into many cars including the camaro, firebird, G8, etc
