Unhappy Just Need to Vent...

I just got a 95 Ranger, I had one before and missed haveing one so when time came to get a 2nd vehical again I looked for a Ranger. Only had it for 4 weeks now and only drive it on weekends (Im a truck driver). First weekend drove fine, 2nd weekend over drive off light started to blink, then the next day it over heated. 3rd weekend trying to fig the over heating isue it wouldnt start, had to put a new battery in it. This weekend got an exsust leak just just past the manifold, and it will only start if it has been sitting for a day. So for the last 2 weeks its just been sitting in my driveway.

Its like soon as theres a problum and I try to fig out what it is a totally new one comes up making it hard for me to solve the other problums or even get it fixed .

Problums I know about so far;
1-overdrive light blinking - think it may be the speedo sensor since the speedomitor is off by 8mph, at least I hope thats all it is.

2-Over heated - think its just the termastat since I cant get it to do it again and theres no leaks, no noise/leaks from the water pump and it seems to be working.

3-Wont start (will turn try to turn over but doesnt want to start, not even with a jump) unless its been sitting for a day then it starts fine. (and had to put in a new battery, other was bad)

4-exsaust leak - think its just at a conection just past the manifold, waiting for it to cool down (since I cant start it agian till it sits for a day anyways) so I can climb under it and look. update- looked under it and ya its just a conection, looks like a bolt is busted off.

On top of that I spent all I had to buy the truck, so I dont have the cash to fix the dang thing . Got to pay bills first.

So sorry to complain, wine, bitch and all but I really just needed to vent befor I take a shot gun to my ranger. I've never bought a used car before that this many problums came up right after buying it. And if your wondering I got it from a used car dealer thats saying it was sold As Is, so there not doing a thing.

On a side note, this sit has been great with giving me ideas as to what is going on and how to fix all the problums, or at least were to start looking. So thanks to the Ranger comunity for your great advise.

I too bought a '95 Ranger recently. It was in good shape, only 70xxx miles.. Thought it was a good deal at $1500. Anyways, I've had to work on it just about constantly in the 2000 miles I've had it. I've got probably a good $4000 into it by now. That's doing all the work myself as cheap as possible.

I doubt I'll ever buy any vehicle used again.. Just ain't worth it. Too much of a gamble. I'd have a whole lot more money in my pocket right now if I just put $1000 or so down on a new one and been paying about $250-$300/month.

In my case I hope I have most of the kinks worked out and I can get a few years out of it without any more major work.

And if it's overheating.. Don't be surprised if it's the headgasket.. Very common. I had to do it on mine as soon as I bought it.

Op sorry to hear about this. I bought my 2011 new because my last three vehicles I've bought used caused me all sorts of headache. example last car we bought only had 28K miles and was a "certified used" vehicle we bought from the brand of the cars dealer. Anyway that car was in the shop 17 times last year before we dumped it and traded it for my wifes trouble free new Subaru. Personally I'm done with buying used. The cars I have now I fully expect to run into the ground or till the wheels fall off.
