do you really need it?

when i did the 06 swap on my truck i never bought a new heat shield bc the one from my 03 hood didn't fit. now im about to get my truck painted and want to know if it will fade my paint over time?

I dont think you need it either, but I would rather have it there. They are around 90.00 from the dealership so its not too bad of a price

They do absorb engine vibrations so itll be alittle quieter in the cab with one installed. As for insulation, ive heard they dont make a difference

The piece that covers the underside of the hood is 90.00 from the dealership brand new. They are around 5-10.00 at a junkyard

removing the hood insulation can cause paint failure on the hood.... it is not to common, but can occur especially on an aluminum hood

+1 We've all seen lots or cars/trucks with a faded circle in the center of the hood. I'd be putting one especially if I was getting the truck painted. Plus makes a great place to mount under hood engine lights
