Default Blew my engine tonight :(

F MY LIFE. I was sitting at a FD call this evening when the engine grenaded.

For some reason the fan stopped running and the engine overheated. I kicked it on manually by turning on the AC and it cooled down. But about 5-10 minutes later it started clanging like a metal rod shoved in a fan and it clunked to a stop. I can still turn it over and it will fire but the oil pressure tanks immediately and it bangs.

I had it flatbedded to the dealer so they can tell me how bad it will be to replace or give up. So I'll have to weigh the cost of replacing the motor with replacing the whole truck. I don't know yet. I'm pissed. Not happy. Drinking a lot now. FML!!!!!!

Ahh, Damn, that really sucks, you have the same set up I do. Could have done without reading this one. Guess I am shopping for an electric fan. . . .

Come to think of it where are you I know where you could scoop up a 4.0 for a good price in the mid-w.

I'm in CT near Andrew.

I do have an E-Fan but I used the Griggs controller so it is controlled by the actual temperature, not the stupid probe shoved in the radiator. The fan was working fine, I walked by the truck several times while it was sitting there idling and the fan was kicking on and off like normal the whole time. Then i saw steam and it overheated and the fan wasn't running. The ScanGauge was showing 240 when I kicked the fan on manually with the AC. About 10 minutes later, it started to auto-destruct.

I don't understand why it stopped working. Its like the engine's temp sensor failed, which is the only way it could not know to run. It still worked when i turned on the AC override. I should have wired a scram switch to it. Tell ya what, i won't be doing that again.

That would be worth the $1500 to me man. Problem is, how do you get an engine from Portland Oregon to Madison Connecticut. You could put it on a train and it could literally stop next to my house.

Only problem is....that engine is in my truck!

check out car-part.com. It's how I found mine.

Just checked the NYC region...there's a 8,100 mi 03 engine in Auburn for just over a grand, 3,700 mi in Medford, bunch of a little higher mile units(25k or so)
