I installed the fan controller in the dash. The E-Fan is working fine now. There is no explanation for why it wasn't running which is what resulted in the overheat to begin with. The entire sequence of events makes no sense at all. We're all just scratching our heads about this here.

The passenger side blew out. but the tank overflowed too. WTF? Maybe the old radiator cap failed after the first overheat and the pressure blew out the radiator. I dunno.

Fire ranger I am glad it worked out reasonably well for you so far.. fan and rad are much better then the alternative. Maybe you should have "My engine didn't blow/ no replacement needed bash" anyhow. lol

Tell ya the truth, its kinda disappointing. I was looking forward to dropping a newer motor in with 1/3 the mileage of the one have now and the fun that would take place during the project.

The second new radiator is in and the new belt tensioner is on. Going to keep an eye out for head gasket symptoms but so far so good.

Now you can keep your eye out for a newer motor and you don't have to rush and pay to much cash for it.

Glad it wasn't the motor. That would have cost a pretty penny. How many miles does your truck have on it?

Well I started seeing air bubbles coming up in the coolant reserve tank. The level in the reserve tank is also lower than it was the other day even with the system pressurized. The bubbles are intermittent and I suppose it could still be some trapped air finding its way out. But I would be very surprised if the head isn't warped and a gasket isn't leaking given how hot that thing got.

If it doesn't go away or it gets worse, I will have to concider what is more economical. The labor and money to deck the heads on an engine with 100k or the money on a replacement engine with 1/3 the miles.
