Can you get some 2 by 4's ( non PT or pressure treated ) and make a ladder rack ? Get some bolts for the joints and 4 2x4 posts , 1 for each corner . Then 2 to go across between the 2 front posts . Connect the 2 front ones first , and bolt them together , then do the same to the back ones . You can be as fancy as you want or just bolts the frames together . I used to do this all the time ... A canoe does not weigh that much and can sit on these , then when you are done , take them down and store them . When you strap the canoe into both the front and the rear sections , it will keep the sections from moving . Some cutting is necessary to fit the cut 2x4's into the pockets of the truck holes on the sides of the bed . You can use any material you like , as in steel for the posts if you would like more strength .

Stick it in the bed and then over the cab and strap her down

I was thinkin about making a wood frame, but idk if ti will work well or not. As for just laying it in the bed and on the cab, that will make the front sky high!

Would it work if you centered it on your roof and just tied it down like i did here...
There is just a piece of foam between the roof of the cab and the kayak
that is a 10' kayak

Lay your futon matress on the cab then strap it down running the straps through the cab via the windows... An idea hahah I think having the nose sky high would be the best bet.

I have seen people use PVC and then strap every thing down. basically make a square that fits in the bed of your truck snug. Then run your straps a cross your canoe to the bed of the truck.

Most outdoor stores sell those foam pads for hauling a canoe on top of a vehicle. They come with the foam pads and straps to hold it down on the front and back and also through the middle.

Is there an REI close to you? Stop in there and ask one of there people to show you how.

i would just put it in the bed strap it down real good and add a red flag!

my new anchorpoints would be useful in this situation lol another idea is to close the tailgate and put it on that. it should not be an issue unless its more than like 15 feet where the center would be off the bed

Hahaha I like clintons idea, orrrrrrrrrrr tie it to the side of my truck and get in the truck dukes of hazzard style! I would center it on the roof but its 15 feet long and I don't want to buckle the boat tieing it down...
