Default I need this worked out and i just cant get a clear answer.

My speedometer and odometer do not work, nor do my dashboard lights. As for the speedometer i know if i fix this it will fix the odometer. So, reffering to the speedometer, this is on a 1997 xlt 4x4, if it only works on cold mornings and up until the truck warms up, what could be wrong? If i replace the cluster will this fix the problem, or is it an ACTUAL repair thats needed?

Your speedo usually hooks up to the rear of your transfer case.
Check your fluid in the transfer case and also the teeth on the speedo.

Also make sure the speedo is hooked up correctly and snug to the cluster.

The speedo cable makes the needle on the cluster move.

For gauge lights check fuses and wiring and bulbs.

I have a 97 Splash and I have the same issue. On the lights I tapped the dash one night and they have been on ever since. but the speedo works fine but the mileage and the trip roll real slow. They do turn just about 100 miles for every 1000. I pulled the dash out and checked every light and about a week after I hit a bump and all the dash lights came on. then they went out again so I thumped it and they have been on ever since.
Not technical but it worked for the lights.

Sometimes some things need a little beating to make work correctly.

95+ do not have speedo cables. 94 and older do.
