No. I mock guys that drive prius's. I feel their man cards should be revoked for it.

I would prefer the FSB for sheer awsomeness, although the I6 is extrememly lacking in power(also gets the same gas mileage as a SBF). I would keep the ranger due to it being conveniently small and gas freindly...most times...Dude, Im at a tossup

an 4.9l will outpull a 302 any day it even gives a 351 a run for its money

that I6 is anything but under powered. its by far one of the best engines ford ever produced and its a torque monster. stock for stock it will out pull a 302 all day long.

Found this on ford-trucks.com.

This is out of a Chilton Ford Pickup Truck manual:

for 1988 through 1993 (and probably also through 1996 but this manual only went through 93):

4.9 I6 rated 150 hp @ 3400 and 265 torque @ 2000
5.0 V8 rated 170 hp @ 3800 and 275 torque @ 2800
The power isn't too much different, and IMHO, an inline engine is WAY easier to work on than a "v" engine.

It's all about the G-R-E-E-N.

Got to pay back some debts.

Ranger would be a nice project. I'm just so stupid and always usually get project vehicles...guess I just like working on things...

Plus I was wanting to make my 79 f150 a strict bog truck.

But I needed something to tow the 79 and my tractor and my bronco can do that.

A ranger cant.

Bought Ranger for gas mileage but people say it won't get that good since it's 4x4.
Yet I hear I can so it's back and forth....one says it will one says it won't.

As a 300 I6 owner, I can vouch for the 300 being a torque monster, and as capable as a 302. I put my F100 up against a buddy's 85 F150 w/302/AOD/8.8 3.73's, and neither of our trucks could pull each other. They both just sat there.

As far as the 300 being underpowered, if you compare the carb 300 vs. the EFI 300, the carb 300 is definitely underpowered in it's stock form. However as was shown, the EFI 300 is pretty well powered.

As for the original question, I voted Ranger. I've never been a fan of Broncos, although they do make awesome trail rigs.

Hmmm if its about green then I would go Bronc. For pure reason that if you keep the Ranger and make it into a project truck then youll be spending teh green. You can also pull the 79 with the Bronc. Granted you have a tractor but can you use that to pull it to a shop of some sort? Or to the pits?

Pull my 79 with my Tractor to a mud bogg?

Uh, naw. Can't do that...

Tractor for farming/land management purpose only.

And to keep my pot plants nice and fertile...just kidding. I would plow that junk over in a heartattack.
