Need help!
I am thinking of trading my 95 5 speed manual SC300 for a ford ranger with following specs. Yet to see the truck
97 ford ranger xlt 4x4,4.0,v6,auto,2 dual 12" subs with led lights in the box,1200 watt sony x-plod amp,kenwood 5x7's all the way around,jvc deck,rancho 8" suspension lift(done right),35" discovery cooper mudders,nice rims(don't remember the brand),175k,lift was put on about 5k ago,gorgeous truck. I am not sure what to expect since its my 1st truck ! My lexus has 108XX miles on it. Is it worth the trade? With 175 K miles what to expect of the truck? Can it be used for everyday driving? what problems might I encounter? Please so suggest .... NU

90-00 Rangers have the best engine ever offered, IMO, the pushrod 4.0. With proper maintenance you can get about double maybe even more mileage out of it. I know that leaky intake gaskets can be a problem with this engine but it is a simple fix. Also being a pushrod engine most repairs are simple since you don't have a cam or cams in the heads. I'm not sure what tranny is in there or if its any good but the first thing I would do if check the condition of the fluid. One last thing. With a truck this big your MPG is going to go to shit especially compared to the car you have now.
As far as value goes kbb.com is your friend. Also remember that mods don't add value to a vehicle unless someone is willing to pay for them.
