Default 2003 Clutch ? or cylinder problems?? HELP!

I LOVE my 4wd 2003 Ranger BUT don't know what to think abt this problem. At abt 53,000 miles I noticed that sometimes when depressing the clutch the pedal would feel like it was hanging up a little on floor carpet as it neared the floor. Well, there is nothing there to hang it up. Since I drive a lot of miles alone in Mexico I figured I'd get whatever the problem might be fixed. New master and slave cylinder and the record says they did not replace the clutch as it looked fine.

So I drive on another 12,000 miles and here it is one year later. I just returned from another Baja trip and as I am 200 miles from home at a gas station, I push the clutch pedal down to get going, the pedal stays stuck down. So I reach down and pull it up w my hands. This goes on for abt 10 minutes and I can't get going! Finally the clutch is ok and I drive to a Ford dealer thinking its the same problem as before. A few days earlier I had noticed once or twice that when I pushed the clutch all the way to the floor there was the twinkle of that "hanging up on something" feeling. Never before had the clutch pedal stayed down until this time at the gas station.

The dealer couldn't get the clutch pedal to do it at all and after looking at the master cylinder (and checking fluids???) they said there was nothing to do since we couldn't get the problem to repeat.

So I am at a loss. I travel alone all over Baja California and absolutely can not have this clutch issue pop up!!! Should I just replace the cylinders AGAIN (OUCH!!!) and the clutch to just to cover all my bases or could this be some other problem? Have there been any similar problems in this yr's Ranger which in every other way is the perfect Baja truck for me.

Is this a clutch problem????

try bleeding the system again, somtimes air can get trapped in the loop part of the line, it will just move back and forth forever sometimes. My pedal had the same feeling after I did my clutch. I dont know what to make of it other than it needs to bleed more.

its not a clutch problem because my sister has a 200 mustang gt and the same thing happened to her gas pedal but before it happened she hit a recycling bin and the guy aat ford said it triggered a sensor and 10 min later it worked fine and the car is automaric so its not the clutch

^^^ I dont think the ranger has any sensors that will affect the clutch pedal. There is nothing electonic about it.

Ok-I have spent the last 24 hrs researching my problem.

General thought has come up with-and I don't know enough abt cars to settle on an answer yet---is that this problem can only be---the master or slave cylinders (seals, rubber ???) or the clutch with a big leaning towards NOT the clutch.

One recommendation made by an old guy who I trust---get a non-Ford rebuild kit for the master and slave...get a non-Ford mechanic to do the job....AND carry an extra rebuild set with me when traveling Mexico 'cuz those guys can fix anything if the parts are available...

I hope more comments will appear here as I will not be doing anything other than research for the next couple of months and my Baja truck will be "resting" before my October trip south of the border. By June I will start DOING something...

Today someone said to me...via internet.....that my truck's problem is the "clutch's/throw out bearing/cover plate".

Since I am NOT a mechanic, is this even a possibility??????

Could be a binding pivot in the linkage, worn bushing, bent linkage...

Hello:
I nhave a 2001 Ford Ranger with about 90,000 miles on it. Back around the first of Febuary 2011 my Slave cyclinder went out!! And that useually what goes out of them 80-90% of the time, so when I had the work done I went ahead and had the Master and all the Clutch done,it was another $300 dollars but I went ahead and had it done all at once since the Trane (Bell Housing) had to be dropped anyway. About $1000 to do it all! It works good now no problems out of it. The Mechanic that did the work had to bleed it about 3 times to get all the air out of the system and I think the last time he did it he had to Power Bleed it.
