Default Stalling, Feels Like No Fuel, Switch Tanks PERFECT

So I've got a dual tank Ranger and I drive around on the rear tank til it's empty, switch to the front and go fill up.

Today 3 times it stalled while driving, felt like no fuel at all, swapped to the front tank and it roared right up, swapped back to rear immediately and kept running fine

WTF?

Clogged fuel pump ? It's carberatued mind you.
Maybe something in the fuel line from the rear tank to the part where it splits and I'm josstling it loose/unless?

Switch valve for the tanks?

Any thoughts appreciated

Thanks
Saul

i would check for a clogged line or something first. do they have individual filters? if thats not it, then go with the switch. the switch should be easy to check tho, just take it off and make sure it is clear.

Check to see if you have a cloged filter on the end of the pickup tube in the tank, I had a 78 Ford do that to me.

Fuel filter on the carb is brand new
fuel pump on the block is good (carb'd remember)

Symptoms say its gotta be on the rear tank pickup/line tothe switch.

I recently had the rear tank sending unit out. I have a spare so I guess I'll swap it out and see what difference I get? To easy to do.

Where's the switch located? Under the bed around the tanks somewhere? Haven't looked yet

I ordered a new high pressure fuel pump because my 86 extended cab kept stalling & no hum from pumps when trying to start
Today I checked my Inertia Switch & found a burnt connector
Temporarily jumped contacts in connector with a paper clip
& Bingo - Vroom Vroom
I will replace the Inertia switch & connector
No need for fuel pump that arrives tomorrow
