Default Regular Cab or Extended Cab?????

I have seen more extended cabs on the road than regular cabs. I am currently looking to buy a ranger but can't decide on which one, but it seems like everyone likes the extended cab better. This will be my first truck so please let me know which one you all think I should get and why.

I think it depends on what you want. If you are 100% for fuel economy get a std cab short box 4cyl. 2wd. If your not worried about it, get a 4x4 ext cab 4.0.

Personally, I love teh ext cab space, its just nice to have the extra room, tools, subs, people, a place to recline the seat when your wife kicks you out.....

i really like a regular cab now. i had 2 ext. cab trucks and it just allowed me to fill my truck with shit haha. but on a side note the extra room is nice. when i had a 91 ext. cab with 3.0 auto, it was heavy as hell! so it was a major dog(on top of the 3.0). now i have a 99 reg cab with steppie fiberglass box and that things zips around wayyy better

well I am definitely going to get a tool box for the bed to store stuff in and I never really have more than 3 people in my car. Does the regular cab feel like you're crammed in or what?

Like others say, it depends on what your going to do with it. My ranger is a regualr cab, and i wish it was an ext cab. Im 6'0 and the extra seat room would be nice, and the extra room to put things in the back without taking up bed space with a tool box would be nice.

Ben Richardson here, I own a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT Four Wheel Drive, 4.0 engine, 5 speed trany, 3.27 gears. Mods are a lift kit that im not sure much how or if it is just a leveling kit I'm not sure how to tell the difference. But it has 31x10.50 Mastercraft Courser MT's but the truck can fit 33x12.50 which will be on it after these wear out. Also now has clear headlights and corner lights with 8000k HID kit.

If you're trying to fit 3 people in a standard cab, forget about it. The third person section is literally like 8 inches wide. Not worth trying at all. My girlfriend is skinny as hell, and she can't even fit in that space.

I prefer supercabs myself, because of the extra room. I do like the single cab longbeds though. It's funny though, because I like my full size pickups in single cab form.lol.

I have an extended cab and I am glad that I got it. Now that I have a baby boy it is really useful for hauling not only my stuff but his stuff. The only problem is some times it seems I have too much room for crap.

Extended cab is great for kids in the back or just to have extra storage space to throw your stuff in the back fast !
It's especially good to keep your stuff dry when it rains!

I agree with the keeping everything dry part but I will be getting a tool box for the bed so I don't think the storage will be an issue.

The ranger is a small truck, the single cab is ok for if you have a small kid and your wife/gf whatever. Otherwise in the single cab, your only gonna fit 2 people and a midget that wants his balls crushed if you get the manual, if these were a full size, the single cab would be the way to go, but being its a small truck, extended cab, FTW.
