Tell me about it. here's something people don't realize, you can get good mpg's with a carb but it's alot of work and a never ending tuning job. Plus when it's cold, a carb motor struggles to start. And another thing people don't know is that on certain makes and models fuel injection takes more fuel for it to start, diesel engines come to mind concerning this. plus a carb costs alot less than efi ever will.

Um diesels have never come in anything but fuel injection, they need it lol

Yeah I know. That what I was saying about more fuel consumption, since there is no plugs it takes a little bit more fuel for a diesel to start especially when it's cold out. Diesel engines hate cold weather. but love the cold air going into the intake for some reason. One saying comes to mind, If it aint leaking oil it aint got no oil. I wonder if there was carb for diesel?

Nope, never been a carb for diesel. Most diesels also have preheaters for the diesel on cold days, but you are right, they can add more fuel to start them off.

Are you sure about that? surely some genius or idiot has tried it somewhere before. I wouldn't be surprised though if there was. Yeah I forgot about those pre heaters on todays diesel. They weren't main stream on trucks when I drove professionally. I remember looking in my fuel tanks and seeing what looked like cottage cheese floating on top of some stinky green liquid.

Nope, you needed to get the diesel down to a finer mist then gasoline, which means you had to get it to a higher pressure. Otherwise it doesn't burn well. But I won't say I am 100 percent wrong. In all the studying i have done on diesels I have never heard nor seen one

They said something about a carbed diesel back during WWII that vaporized the diesel fuel into steam. I'm pretty sure I seen that somewhere, but I think it was someone talking about an urban legend or something. Oh, you do know about the ATF trick in your fuel tanks right?

Yes, we do that to clear out gasoline as well

We did it to a Kubota 9000KTV or whatever the things are, man that thing got peppy! I got in trouble racing it around work lol

I'm surprised that no one ever came up with a fuel vaporizing carb for diesel engines. That's where I read it. Someone called it a myth in a blog somewhere and said the U.S. Government took it off the market or some other damn thing. They also said they had one for gasoline engines too, but after the first few minutes of reading it, I called it B.S. and left the blog site.

You need the high pressure to vaporize diesel though, that's why they have injection pumps. That would be bs unless it somehow worked as a injection pump

That's what I was thinking about. How come no one has come up with something like that for use with a carb? I don't even know if you can get a crate diesel engine yet? it would be nice if you could. I know the 2 top choices in my book. either a CAT C-18 or a Cummins N-14 Celect Plus. That would be kool seeing those put in a Ranger (it won't work due to their size).
