Default One small step for a noob, one tiny leap for Noobkind

Well, I have now officially done my first (small) modification on my Ranger.

Thanks to a one-step-microwaveable-go-faster guide (not at any point authored by STL!), my truck is now sans snorkel and breathing deep of the crisp autumn (fall) NC air. No idea if it will make a noticeable difference, but as my morning commute is mostly at highway speeds, I guess I'll find out if it's more willing and able.

Hot on the heels of this confidence building (at least till the engine blows up) result is going to be the AC kill-switch mod, as even now discreet LED switches are winging their way to me from the exotic recesses of some electronics discounter in NJ.

Wonder how long it will take me to break something?

Doh! Wrong attribution there, it is rngprerunner on Ranger Forums who wrote that one I had a half-dozen windows open, guess I looked at the wrong page!

Better change that!

With my POS digital camera and the fact I did this at 10pm outside, I could post a black square instead of the pics. However, if you want moobs or GTFO I can indulge you! And will if I feel threatened.......

Yep. It's hard to just YANK on a part of the engine like that when you're not sure it won't lead to a Star Trek style explosion of the dash board!

But, it's done. I had a nasty moment when I put the truck in neutral, started it up and gave it a little gas..... The rev limiter kicked in and for a second I thought I had bollocksed something up!

Well, I had the truck out for a long spin on the road today (Raleigh to Rocky Mount, Rocky Mount to Apex, Apex to Louisburg), a -lot- of it at 70+ on 64. With the air box, it seems to take less pedal to hit a given speed. I kept finding myself running 5-10mph faster than I thought I was when my foot settled into its "highway spot". I guess the mod makes some difference!

It was there so we could mod are trucks. It doesn't hurt anything by taking it out.

Plus like greyghost said makes a nice holder in the garage
