Default Where is the engine number located?

I have a 1994 Ford Ranger that has a 4.0L engine. It was removed from an explorer before i got it and installed in my Ranger, and now i need to know the engine number, where is it located? Thanks for any help.

Usually on the side of the block

Should hav D,E,F on it which shows that year it was made with serial numbers.

Yep, right underneath the headers die stamped into the block, same place I seen my serial numbers for my 3.0 when It got replaced for the 3rd time. That was geico's fault there. They wanted to send another, I told them if they did it would be returned after I used it for a boat anchor.

Get a bigblock and drop the V6.
