Default CAI headache

Yesterday i installed my new volant cai and it came with maf regulator wire, it didn't seem to fit right so i ran my truck one day without it. My check engine light came on about 10 miles in and i got the codes read and reset, they were P0171 and P0174 engine running too lean in bank 1 and bank 2. So on the way home from discount autoparts the light came on again, i called volant and they instructed me how to put the regulator on. When i put it on as told i went to test it out and now the truck is shifting really really hard into first and second. If anyone can help me i just really worried i damaged something without running the regulator for its first 30 miles.

Did you disconnect the battery to install the regulator?

No the reason I asked is because when the computer loses power for a while it forgets how to shift the tranny and it shifts hard at first until it learns. I don't know what's going on with your truck. Maybe it is a coincidence that as you install the intake and the tranny acts up. Check you fluid level and color.

Disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes, it lets ECU reset. What I am guessing is when you ran the truck w/out MAF input your computer tried to compensate and that is why you got the Check Engine Light. When you reconnected the MAF again, your computer again tried to compensate. Your computer needs to be reset. Don't over look the obvious though, any vacuum leak in the intake can cause those codes, double check you connections for your CAI. Under filled, over filled, bad tranny fluid can lead to hard shifts. Hope this helps.
