these were available starting in the 2002 model year.

dream truck would be an 87-89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4x4.
they came stock with: AMC 360 CI V8, dana 44 solid axles, chrysler torqueflite auto tranny, and a new process gear-driven xfer case. unstoppable monsters.

as far as rangers go, mine is exactly what I want and have dreamed of owning.

Mine with a dixon brothers kit front and back and a built motor from super six motorsports to handle turbos, spray or an explorer express blower. a build 5r55e with a pml trans pan cover and pml diff cover.

get alcoa to make me some 16x10 wheels just like what i have on it already and some nice bfgoodrich baja radials. fully cage the cab with some nice race seats and retain as much of the factory dash as i can.

that would be pretty much perfect.

oh and lots of offroad lights.

or sas up front with a 6bt between the rails.

yeah, the jeep SJ platform had some awesome bodies on it. the J-trucks, wagoneers/grand wagoneers, and full-size cherokees are all to die for. but a three speed tranny, carbureted big block V8, and aerodynamics of a barn are no bueno for any hope of economy.

the grand wagoneers were class A detroit bruisers, but luxury cruisers inside- power everything, ac, super comfy seats, and a super floaty ride. and that wood paneling gets me every time

Well a design refresh would be nice since there really isn't much difference between the 2008 I just got and the 1994 I had through 99, slightly larger in all dimensions, and at least an optional package for more comfortable and stylish interior [again not much has changed there since 1994 either], 3.0L TDI clean diesel, 6 speed auto, = 20mpg city 30 H/W while producing 240HP/400lb.ft. It can be done.

I mean . . . while we're dreaming, might as well go all out.
