Default launching a boat with your ranger

how many people do it and with want engine, trans, 2 or 4 wheel drive and how big of a boat??

i got a 18ft stingray weighs about 2300 with fuel on a 300lb trailer so its about 2600lbs, i know the owners manual says only 2000 but its only a few miles and it pulls it fine, its only a 2 wheel drive and a 5 speed but it works

With my 04 2.3L 2wd ranger, I pull my 14ft Alaskan Smokercraft with a 30hp jet. Truck does just fine! Id say the boat, motor, trailer and all the gear is at 1000lbs??? IDK...
The only problem I have being that I have a 5sp..When starting off and pulling up the ramp, 1st gear is to fast. I really wish 1st gear was a lot slower (4:10s??).
I used to pull a 18ft flat bottom sled with a 90hp jet and a 8hp trolling motor with this truck. Truck did it. Getting started off the ramp without killing it was the hard part but going down the road, and even stopping the truck did fine. I didn't like doing it but some times you just gotta use what you got!

Are you using the bumper mounted hitch ball or do you have a real trailer package?

I've never had a truck or boat before..but now that I have a Ranger, I'd like to get a boat. I'd prefer just a 12-14ft Jon boat that I could carry to the water so I wouldn't have to launch it..but the more I think about it, I should probably get a boat with a gas motor - otherwise I'll just get bored quickly with it. I'd like the boat more for just crusing around on nice days. May not do much fishing. So with that requirement - I'd pretty much have to have a trailer I guess... I'd also need a hitch I assume. Been looking for one in the junkyard, but hard to find something that isn't rotted out around here.
