Unfortunately with recent events, I don't see nuclear power gaining any strategic ground either.

So yea, basically if oil disappeared tomorrow we'd all die.

Man for real please tell me that is a joke? If not your very much mistaken. Think of all the Amish that are living now a days with no motors or electricity.

This is what i would do for real. There will still be batteries around correct i would set up a solar system to charge batteries for a radio. I would cut enough ice in the winter time to get me through the summer months would make sure it is all in the ground so it last longer. I would hunt and trap for meats and grow my veggies.

Batteries wouldn't last long until the cells completely die.

Ok, re-read your post. Most people won't know what to do with solar systems and they might can mess up.

It is one thing i have really looked at up here truthfully. Alot of the camps out in the woods are all ran off of batteries some are solar some are ran off of generators.

It is something that would need to be studied even more by me but i have a lil but of the jist of ow it works lol.

Study more about it and you can possibly use it. But remember, if something messes up you won't be able to fix it.

A person can live with out Power. Power isnt a thing that is really needed in life truthfully. You can cook and heat your home with wood. You can use cricks and lakes to clean up in.

You can farm with out any type of fuel or electricity you can hunt and gather wild foods with out fuel or electricity.

Really now that i think about it some more if a guy was smart enough he could build like a smaller version of a hydro dam and use that to power up his batteries or even run lights in the camp.

Because our ancestors and the Amish did not and do not depend on it. We do. The entire infrastructure that sustains life in America depends on oil. Lose the oil, lose the infrastructure.

How do you get that? yes there wont be work but do you need work to get food? Do you need work to collect water? Do you need work to fish?

It will push the city folks out who cant live with out the internet or lights but the good old country folk will make it. The ppl who know how to take care of them self will be just find it wont be the end of the world if we don't have no oil.

You're giving people too much credit. I'm sure you and I will do fine. Most people will not. The death count will be enormous.

It wont, and oil will always be around or at least have a high demand. you office guys can run an electric car maybe, but what about us in the construction field? what about trucks? those will always run on fuel. Can you imagine an electric 18 wheeler...? BAHAHAHA yeah right. How about an electric dozer, an electric genterater that produces electricity....WTF? hahaha.

The sad truth is, we are all bent over a barrel. I am going to make millions off these high fuel prices, but I wont tell my secret! HA!

Survival of the Fittest. Most of the people in cities would not survive, simply because they make fun of the people out in the sticks that can live on their own. Country boy Can Survive.

Electric cars will be of no use. You can't recharge the batteries when the entire electric grid is offline.

I think you are forgetting about hydroelectricity? Only need water to power it, and how many damns are already built and running?
