does having a cap help or hinder rangers mpg?

Mine made no difference. Any aerodynamic improvements over an open bed will be off-set by the several hundred pounds of added weight.

After I added a tonno cover, I thought it might improve mileage.... but it didn't. These engines are not fuel effecient. Best MPG with mine was 18 MPG... that is highway driving.

Same here , It looks good but no other benefits for performance that I have foudn , daily driving . .

actually with a truck the best way to get good mpg is no cap or cover what so ever, the air swirling around on the box gives you better mpg then having a 100lbs cap or a cover
