The time has come
Well I am going to sell the fullsize Bronco. The thing is making my use ALL my money for gas to go to work. Was going to get a 1991 Ford Ranger with a 4.0/5 SPD in it BUT when I went to go look at it, the interior was in way bad shape, windsheild was cracked, I couldn't even open up the hood, and the truck was an auto that was converted to manual (auto shifter and gauge still in it)- Would been ok but I could see alot more $$$$ in it.
Was going to sell my 85 Ford Ranger 4X4 since a faulty Autolite sparkplug messed my 2.3L up. It only runs off of 3 cylinders now cause the number 2 cylinder has oil leaking in it due to the bottom part of the spark plug blowing off into the engine.
Anyways.
I'm thinking I am going to keep the Ranger and fix the engine or get another 2.3L and put in it.
Truck needs work BUT it will get way better MPGs than my Bronco.
Going to have to fix a leaking master cylinder, get a new clutch, fix a leaking steering gear box, get some tires, get 4x4 hubs, weld in some floorboards, and get the steering aligned.
Might get a lift kit on it later and build up the 2.3L to where it will get more power/gas mileage. I don't know yet. Just know it will be better than the Bronco sucking my money out of my wallet like a woman will (no offense ladies )

Re: The time has come
If you willing to come alllll the way to South Ga, I let it go for $1300-$1500.
Yes, it's in good shape. It's got a 300 inline 6/5spd manual.

Re: The time has come
This in my Bronco
This is my Courier 4x4 (put back for later for restoration).
Here's my toy Brinker. Will keep the Ranger for gas mileage and the 79 4x4 (466,c6) for a toy/tow rig

7MPG. Lord have mercy. Maybe my 466 get like 12 mpg at least with my 38s LOL...
What gear ratio you have in it?
Maybe you need to swap from a 302 to a 460.

Yeah put some lower gear ratio in it and get a bigger engine!
More engine power will help out the gas mileage since it doesn't have to struggle pulling like the 302 does.

Well I can solve the rust problem. No biggie. Thank God I aint up North.
I can just sand the frame down in time one day and paint it and stop the rust.

Re: The time has come
Does the frame look that bad? My Couriers frame is in way worse shape that this..
I think this is just surface rust.

Re: The time has come
Yeah it looks ok still, you can powerwash it and hit it with rustoleum rust primer and then hit it with black paint.
And those leaks are most likely cheap seals anyway.
You could run seafoam through your engine in the meantime to boost mpg a little bit, and maybe get a 2.3 from somewhere else and rebuild it if it needs it, and then some weekend do the swap and tackle the clutch.

Re: The time has come
Well I WAS starting to tear the engine down to get the head off to see the damage BUT right when I got on my last 3 bolts the bolts started to round off on me. MY LUCK!
I might just find another 2.3L and call it done.

Re: The time has come
Go get tap outs...drill a hole in the head and insert the tap out and turn it in reverse...they work AWSOME...got a lot of rounded off bolts with those
