no, I leave my hubs locked in all winter long, unless its nice out, then I unlock them. I think it's good to have them locked in, keeps everything moving and lubed up

Bad. I have a vaccum problem with my shift-on-the-fly so my hubs STAY locked all the time and I'm replacing my front driveline u-joints every 50,000 miles. Don't be lazy, just unlock em and lock em when you need em.

If you are just driving around town and there is no snow storm or anything, there isn't a point.

If you are going to be out off roading, then lock them and when you need to put it in 4wd you will not have to get out of the truck.

What does it mean to leave the hubs locked? Also, what is a hub?

Haha forgive me people. I came to learn.

It's fine if BOTH are locked. If one is locked and the other isn't and you try to engage the four wheel drive, be prepared to spend some moolah. Learned that the hard way.

On pre '97 and some 98+ that had the option, there are "hubs" that lock the 4wd axle to the rotor via the lug studs. When they are locked in it supplys power to the front wheels. Un-locked just lets the rotor spin freely with no power supplied to the front wheels

I have no rear driveshaft in my fullsize bronco and I drive off the front 4wd. It causes no problems. just be careful how u turn though cause it could strip em out.
