Default Amazon.com screwed up

So I ordered an Aries Automotive one-piece black brushguard (item #3053) from Amozon.com recently... I was very excited to be picking it up today.

I was expecting this:


...but instead, they shipped this:


...so much hate...
I guess I'll have to ship this fucker back on my own dime now and wait for them to ship out the correct goddamn part. How the hell does someone confuse part number ARIES#3053 with ARIES#35-3009 anyways?

True , when you initiate the return they'll ask you to select a reason. If it's not you're error, then they'll pay shipping and give you the option to let them schedule a pickup from your porch on their dime. When they recieve the return, they'll credit you what you paid back to your account you used to pay with.

Just went through the process. Looks like they will be sending the correct part out ASAP, but they still expect me to ship this one back to them on my own and get reimbursed for the expense (up to $43) once they receive the part back. Such bullshit. I'm going to call them tomorrow and give them a piece of my mind that's for sure.

it was an honest mistake on their part, Amazon has always dealt with me fairly and was always prompt to fix their mistakes. They will reiumburse you on the shipping or send you a prepaid label.

Maybe so, but I'm still pissed. I spent 30 minutes on hold earlier today because they couldn't get the tracking right. I've had good dealings with amazon before too but this has been an unpleasant experience just about every step of the way.

..Still waiting for some type of confirmation that my return/replacement request went through...

They should reimburse your shipping.
Although it is a PITA to send it back & wait on what you ordered originally.
They've always been good with any issue I've had over the years... some places would tell you "tough luck sucker" and you'd never hear from them again.
Give 'em a chance, they'll make it right.

I fully expected this thread to just be a place for me to bitch a little bit, feel better, and have shit handled the way it should be. Things didn't go so well for me.

I went through the automated returns system, which didn't originally give me the option for a refund but only replacement. (which is fine, I wanted them to replace it anyways) The result being that Amazon was going to ship out the replacement ASAP and I was to ship this bull bar back on my own dime, and receive reimbursement from Amazon once they had the product back.

Time went by, and no conformation email showed up. I checked my account and it showed TWO return confirmations instead of the one. At this point, I had already witnessed much more incompetence than I cared for (aside from the item screw up, I had spent 20 minutes on the phone earlier because they couldn't find the damn tracking info and didn't know where my order was) and called customer service to find out if my return order went through. This is where it REALLY gets good.

The first guy tells me that there will be NO replacement sent out because they are OUT of the product I ordered, and basically informs me that they just send out "similar" products because I should be happy to have received anything. (No shit, this really happened!) He then transfers me to "Heavy shipping dept." or whatever he called it to see if I can get something worked out on the cost of returning it. I am then told that not only will I not be reimbursed for the shipping, but I will not receive ANY of the money I spent back until they have the item back and have processed my return, which can take TWO to THREE WEEKS AFTER THEY GET THE ITEM BACK!

Talk about your fucked up customer service! I'll never buy from Amazon again! Which sucks, cause I have made plenty of purchases from them before and always been happy with the service before. But this goes beyond bad service, and into the realm of personal insult.

I'll update this thread with what happens, but as it is right now, I'm pretty much at the mercy of a company that seems to have ZERO regard for customer satisfaction. I have NEVER heard of customer service this bad (aside from those shady chinese internet sales companies) and am beyond mad.

BUYER BEWARE: They still have the item up on their site saying "in stock" despite apparently NOT having it in stock. I wonder how many people actually just keep the "similar" item instead of hassling with them. (Similar item cost almost $100 less than the item I paid for btw)

The clusterfuck continues...

After ending the last conversation with Amazon Customer Service and being informed that they have no more of the brush guard I ordered in stock, and the order HAS BEEN CANCELED, we discuss what is going to be involved in getting my refund. The conversation ends with the order being canceled, and arrangements being made for the return of the wrong item.

A day passes, and I have taken my business elsewhere. All I gotta do now is wait for the refund to be processed and I can wash my hands of this whole thing right?

WRONG! Amazon emails me to inform me that INSTEAD of sending me my refund, they went ahead and ORDERED THE CORRECT PART from somewhere else and are shipping it to me! WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE, THEY REOPENED MY ORDER! I called them to tell them NOT to send me another grill because I just wanted my money back as was arranged, and I'm told that the new order cannot be canceled.

After spending a good two hours on the phone with some Indian lady who spoke English in much the same way a hummingbird soars through the sky, I'm finally told that she received authorization to cancel the order and issue the original refund order. UNFORTUNATELY the heavy shipping dept. is closed, so all she can do is email the supervisor of that dept. to let them know, and encourages me to call first thing in the morning to get confirmation from them.

Well big fucking surprise, I received an email from Amazon first thing this morning, before I could even have a cup of coffee informing me that the order has been shipped.

Back to the phones... I'll update this when more shit happens.

As a bonus, checking the tracking info shows that they actually shipped this yesterday, about two hours before notifying me that they reopened the order. So the 2 hours on the phone trying to get it canceled was pointless as it was already shipped out. Sure woulda been nice if they had their shit together enough to know that and inform me of the fact instead of pretending like they were going to do something helpful.
