marrying 2000 xlt 4x4 w/ 2000 xlt RWD
i currently own a 2000 xlt 4x4, reg cab and just got a 2wd ext. cab step side. the body on my 4x4 is starting to rust in the expected places but all the mechanics are good as far as i know. the rwd was in an accident and has been damaged in the front drivers side corner (broken controlarm. front drivers side body totaled) im thinking the better route would be to lift the body off the rwd truck and put it on the other(doing a body lift in the process). im sure this has been done before and am wondering if this is the best route to go.

Reg cab and Supercab trucks have different frames and wheel bases.

the reg cab is long box and the ext. cab is short box. Still different? havent measured to tell you the truth, just puttin it out there

Yep, still different. The supercab frame has a longer section for the cab than the single cab frame. You'd be better off parting the supercab out, and then buying a single cab, and then using the leftover money for the body lift.

Re: marrying 2000 xlt 4x4 w/ 2000 xlt RWD
i have both already ha the bed and cab of the ext cab is in better shape than the regular cab but the ext. is only 2wd.
----------
i want the ext cab so i have more room in the truck and it is in better condition.
----------
the other opption would be to use the front end of the 4x4 onj the 2wd super cab

You could use the front clip, but your 4x4 stuff won't work on the super cab as the frame are also different between 4x2 and 4x4.

Nope.lol.
At least a single cab will be easy to find and cheaper since it doesn't have as much sheet metal.lol.

Re: marrying 2000 xlt 4x4 w/ 2000 xlt RWD
so from searching around all night this is what i have found.
rangers 98+ have a two piece frame. the frame is joined behind the cab mounts and teh front half is the same weather it is reg or ext. cab. the rear half dictates long or short box. so if i remove the rivets that hold the two halves together and attach the rear portion of the short box frame to my 4x4 front half it should work. am i crazy? haha

picture of what im talkin about. the idea came from someone inquiring about making a ext. cab with a long box as it doesn't come factory.
