Default what should i do...

Looking to do some more off roading this year and I seem to break stuff a lot and I need to know some tips to help me while I'm off roading so I don't break stuff everytime. I also wanna know some things I can do to prepare for me braking something.

I am looking to going to sandunes in a few months what should I know?

Will my 4.0 with 31's be alright? Or is it a disaster waiting to happen?

well the first thing i would do is to repair your leaf spring hangars and go over the rest of the truck to make sure everything else is in good shape. as far as the dunes go, youll do fine. i used to take my stock rangers there all the time and they did great, just be aware of how peaked the top of the hills can get so you dont get high centered. lower your air pressure way down in the tires and have a ball. as long as you dont drive around there like its the baja 1000 you shouldnt break any parts.

What axle do you have?

If it's the Dana 28 go with a Dana 35. It is heavier but more heavy duty than the Dana 28.

Also use good U-joints. Forgot what kind they are called.

Your 4.0L and 31s will be fine. Do you have auto or manual hubs?

Did you get your spring hangers fixed yet?

I do not know how anyone else feels about shocks, but I for me I bought the cheapest ones that fit with my lift. You are not out every day offroading your truck, so there isn't a need to have the high dollar shocks.

This is the perfect time of year to be going over your truck. Check everything.

The best thing to do to keep from breaking when out on the trail is to wheel smart. Don't run trails with your gas pedal to the floor.

As of now my hangers are all officially fixed... I'm gunna get some leaf supports and check everthing out. I plan on gutting my cat asap and changing the position of my air intake.

Find an old beater ATV or Dirt bike and haul it in the back of your Ranger to where the dirt starts. They're made for off road use. Your Ranger is already telling you it's not.

lol, Botta has a point. Your frame is pretty scary looking, i'd be afraid to find out what else is rusted, i.e. front knuckles, radius arm brackets, etc.

Yes, U-joints for yer driveshaft.

That's the thing about offroading. It's good to buy the good kind of u-joint than a cheap on that can break and then leave you stranded.

I think they are u-joint 1550 or something.

Are the things breaking from really going nuts or just popping from age and all that other junk?
