Believe it or not, drum type parking brakes only apply 1 shoe (front/primary) and rely on the wedging action of the brake shoes to drum to hold drum from turning FORWARD, the brakes can actually "ratchet" if not applied hard enough and allow it to roll backwards.

Just buy a wedge next time and pop it on the rear of the tire.

He should have had it in gear and turned the truck off (I assume he put it in neutral and let it idle). Sorry to hear about this man, but some times this could be a good thing. When my Camaro was wrecked, the insurance company gave me over $2500 more than what I was trying to sell the car for at the time; hopefully you'll come out on top.

I know the feeling dude. When I put old '84 ranger off the road and rolled into a tree, all my lights and radios when everywhere. A Whelen double dashmiser strobe clocked me in the head... When I got out of the hospital, I was finding pieces of my lights and antennas WAY off in the woods. They flew. That sucks.

will post the picks when i get home and can get em off of my cell.
Don't know the details about the truck because its not in your sig, but if it was an older gen, i'd offer for him to buy it at a reasonable price rather than damaging your insurance record for the next 10-15 years for a stupid error.

Or there's always judge judy.

Sucks your truck is destroyed but glad no one hurt and your friend is being a stand up guy about it. If I'm reading right sounds like you have insurance coverage AND your friend is giving you his Busa worth 10k?

This sounds like a good idea.

The lightbar is an expensive loss. That BLOWS!!!! Mine was 10 years ago but the stuff back then was just as expensive. I had a mini bar mounted on the tool box in the bed for rear warning (looked pretty badass btw) and it basically got obliterated. Two big par36 strobes on the bumper literally broke off and jettisoned into the woods along with the fog lights. My scanner and some controllers were in a center console which all got crushed since the seat was pushed into it and wrecked it. I had a two way radio under the dash that broke off its mounts and we had to use the jaws a few days later to remove body panels to find it (still worked though!). Stereo went back into the dash and cracked in pieces. Antennas all bent.

I was not happy either. It's very depressing watching all that time and money get destroyed. The bleeding and inability to really walk straight for a month sucked too. The permanent damage to my left ankle still sucks...
