F150 or ranger...
I went the dealer that I know before, and he offered me a good deal on 2000 f150 reg cap, stepside, and only 73k mileage. I am not even think about f150 because too big. However, I cannot find any good looking ranger cost about $4k around my area. I see online gas mileage check and v6 ranger and f150 v8 is almost same gas mileage, is that true?
If f150 reg cap is big enough and not that gas guzzler, I like to buy it.
However, in future definitely I will get the ranger for sure.
Tell me your opinions and great advices.
Thank you all.

Re: F150 or ranger...
You're asking people on a ranger forum whether you should buy a ranger or an F-150... I think most people are going to tell you ranger.
That being said, the 3.0 V6 gets bad gas mileage (its a really old design) so it wouldn't surprise me if a modern V-8 got essentially the same fuel economy.
Out of curiosity what $ amount did he offer the f150 at?
wow the rangers on that link are almost all way overpriced. I guess they want you to talk them down from there. or maybe they are all trying to sell the new 2011 rangers since it is the last year they will make them... again...

They offer me little over $4000 with 6months warranty.
Everything is power, key-less entry, 73k mileage.

Re: F150 or ranger...
i am just hopping the f150 is the 4.6 and not the 5.4 since in that gen then 5.4 was problematic and harder on gas then its EPA figures. if its the 4.6, in good shape and most importantly then go for it

I don't know anything about f150 values but 4k for a truck with 6 months warrenty and under 80k miles seems like a good deal to me.

Re: F150 or ranger...
Check out this link http://www.edmunds.com/ford/f-150/20...ub=regular-cab
edmunds is great for figuring out how much you should be paying for used cars.
It doesn't show V8's being available for the 2000 regular cab though.
The money in f150s is all in the trim if you get the upper trim levels the $4000 is pretty good, if its the base you need to try to negotiate down to $3000ish (the value is probably $2500 but the dealer needs to make profit).

Yes, I visited again and he wants me $47000 cash and 6months warranty. I checked it and it was XLT and I cannot see 4X4.
It was 4.6L engine with v8 or v6(pretty sure he said v8)
Mileage was pretty good 73k.

He said to me that he bought it as $4200 and they fix everything so OTD price cannot be under $4700 he said. I want to trust buy surely not. Thanks for your great information.

Re: F150 or ranger...
I checked and there was an option for a 4.7 V8 that with the XLT package and the sidesteps alone (meaning I didn't select any other options) put the edmunds dealer price at $5K.
So I would do it if you think the truck is in good mechanical shape (carfax).

Re: F150 or ranger...
the 4.6 is definitely a v8, the only v6 in those models was the inline 6 4.2 (good engine just under powered). 4700 is still not to bad with the warranty, see if perhaps they could include something extra (maybe a full tank of gas, or like window visors, mudflaps, little things like that) it might seem like much but since they dont want to budge on the price see if they could include small items. ( i think a tonneau cover might be pushing it but ask for that as well )
Please note that a ranger that is to your liking and in your budget could be worth the wait (plus its more maneuvreable )

the 4.2 is a V6 not an inline, youre thinking of the older 300 I6 which was an awesome motor. (4.2 is very good as well) also i havent heard of any issues in that gen 5.4 (2V) with the exception that few had a problem with plugs popping out of the head but that was somewhat rare. both the 5.4 and 4.6 in that gen are very good engines, the 4.6 is a bit underpowered for heavy towing.

my big ass F-150 has a sharper turning radius than my ranger. lol But i still agree, if a ranger is what you want just hold out untill you find one, they are out there, just have to be patient.

Yes, I'd like to have a ranger and it is sexy.
However, I cannot be patient forever (I lost my car 3 weeks ago and that was my only ride lol) That's why I am so desperate to buy a car asap. It's almost a month from car accident.
Thanks for your advice and encouragement! I love to have a ranger!

I like F150 but now my favorite is ranger! lol
Even if I prefer big car, I love ranger and it is just right size for me.
But as I said all the time, I am very patient even if I have no car at all.
(I ride a bicycle for commute to campus. It is about 3-4 mile with little hills lol) This is the reason why I think about other truck instead of ranger.
I really thanks for your information and advice!!
