Why do you cover your plates?
I'm just curious, not trying to start an argument. What is the logic behind covering the license plate in pics? I like my vanity plate and everyone obviously sees it in public so why cover?

Re: Why do you cover your plates?
They are paranoid that someone will run their plate, and find out where they live.
As you said people see it every day on the road so it doesn't make sense.

Re: Why do you cover your plates?
I'm waiting for an explaination from someone who actually does "block out" their plates in photo's. Interesting to see what "theory" they give.

Sometimes, I block out mine not very often though. Why? I saw other people doing it and figured maybe they must have had a good reason lol.
True anyone can see them in public, but I guess here we pay more attention to and know more aboat each others trucks than someone in traffic would so maybe that would make it more likely for someone to want to run your plates. Idk?
I guess since I like STL's truck so much I could run his plates, find his address and come steal it lol. Anyone seeing him in traffic could do this too though or even just follow him home.
Or if say you screwed some member on here they could run your plate and come find you. theres other ways of getting info on people anyways.
Idk, just my thoughts, I don't really think it is really that big of a deal if someone wants to find me bad enough they will find me.

Re: Why do you cover your plates?
Yes its true people do see it everyday, posting it here is no big deal to me either but there are the people that can view these threads and NOT be registered members. There are some shitty people out there that can obtain info on plates, They can look through threads where that person they know of that has their plates posted and see another thread from the very same OP posting a thread that they are going to a concert opens the bad people up to ideas. Its just the same a burglars reading obituaries, seeing where that person and family lived, seeing how long the funeral service is and knowing that no one will be there for some time.

Re: Why do you cover your plates?
The only time I've blocked out a plate is when I was trying to sell a Civic on Craigslist here around Detroit. Civics are candy to thieves around here. No use advertising the location of an unattended car just sitting an a driveway all day.

Re: Why do you cover your plates?
It's kinda like posting your phone # or real email address online, I just don't want the entire internet to see my stuff.
There's waaaaaaay to many freaks out there.
