I am so stoked right now. I have had this truck now for a few months but it has been way too cold out to actually work on it. I finally got out in the garage and after poking around I figured out what needed to be done to get this thing running. Alas, it runs like a 337,000 km motor, strong as hell sounding and begging to get out and do some wheeling. I need now to figure the tranny out (why its stuck in 3rd gear).

worst. update. ever.

Can you change gears when it is not running?

Your clutch could be bad.

Can't change gears at all....its almost like there is something jamming the lever.

I'll have to give that a try and maybe get lucky...I found a tranny in a 4.0 92 Explorer at the junk yard for 100 bucks, might just buy it when it warms up a little because I have to take it out and its too friggin cold to lay under a truck in the junkyard right now.
