Default Electric Ford Ranger... Anyone have one?

Another project I am thinking of doing in the future. I wounder if I can order a truck from Ford without a engine or transmission?. Convert it to all electric?.

Here's some pictures of current Ranger Electrics. Ford built a Electric Ranger. Here's a web site for more info.

The white one is actually a Ford Built Electric Ranger. Only 400 are still in extiance. Cost Ford to build: 80,000. When they were returned from leasing, they were destroyed. I suppose it's the Big Gas Companies doing there crap again...

The other one's in the thread are home brew Range electric.

Why not?. They have the power and speed, although I don't know what the 0 to 60 would be.

Rare? Yes!

Efficient? No way!

0-50 in 12.5 seconds? Will never get out of its own way.
60 mile range with a 6-8 hour recharge time? Horrible unless you barely drive. Also, this will make your electric bill go up, most definitely more than the cost of gasoline.

Maximum speed of 70. Try doing 70 on a full charge, I bet you will get less than 60 miles out of it.

In the end, this would be cool as a collectors vehicle, but in no way would it be cheap or practical. Wait till a part breaks, try to go to Ford and find parts.

It's just wrong lol.

but I don't imagine they would take well to having mud/water thrown all over their electric guts.

On the origional Ford Electric the "Electric Motor" is in the rear axel. But, I would imagine water and mud wouldent matter because all the electronics are in a all weather shield.

they werent ever designed for daily commuting, they were mostly used for airports, university campuses ect. basically an overgrown golf cart.

Yea. Thats probally right. The run to the local Wawa for smokes a few miles away every time you needed to get groceries would pay for the Gas ranger in the driveway over a period of time, Probally... Charging it overnight would depend on how much amps it would take for the charger to charge. Usually, it's not that bad, probally would beat 2.95 a gallon of gas though.

I just dont think we've reached the tech. level to make electric cars great. But I think we are close. Electric motors make a kilo-shit-ton of power at any rpm, the problem is supplying power, like a super solar panel.
