Diesel's, non commercial are exmept from emission inspections. Commercial Tractor Trailers are not exempt, at least here in Jersey, as I am told this.

VW is doing great with their clean diesels. They have more power and get better MPG's than hybrids.

The hell with all this altertinave fuels. I say the government should make the gas at 99 cents per gallon for ever. That will make fuel affordiable and people will spend more on other things. It will bring back the economy much faster. LOL....

Get rid of emissions, and stupid Governments regulations that make production way more expensive.

How about we drill for oil in Alaska. This will be cheaper to ship to us, and will free up our vested interest in the middle east. It could save billions.

So, when the government sets the price of fuel at 99 center per gallon, who is going to pay the oil supplier the difference? Or do you think the oil suppliers will just donate the difference to us?

well we would have more diesels engines, but emissions are choking them down. We almost had a diesel F150, never got a diesel Ranger (except the 1st gen), the diesels that were great had to be thrown out due to the fact that they wouldnt pass emissions(7.3), and now emissions is invading the commercial diesel area such as heavy equipment.
New diesels are defiantly strong and get decent mpg, but they can make more power and get better mpg and even gain better reliability if the emissions systems are disabled and removed. Look at the 6.0 Powerstroke, one of the worst diesels ever made right? Nope, that same engine was used in larger commercial applications and was very reliable. The difference other than name was emissions, the class that the Ford SD was in had strict emissions which led to 6.0's running way hotter than what they were supposed to which led to a series of failures which would end in a catastrophic failure of the engine. Same with the 6.4. Navistar/IH didn't design those diesels to comply with that level of emissions. The Ford 6.7 was, but we will see how that turns out and how much better the aftermarket will make that engine be.

Personally, I woulden't mind a diesel. The only down side to owning a diesel is the gas station around the corner dosent sell diesel. let's see, the nearest gas station that has diesel from me is In Rio Grande, 4 miles from me. But then, Less fill up's with diesel, but cost more per gallon... I am still undesided on Gas vs Diesel.

Diesels are more efficient then gas engines, thats the reasoning for their creation, to make a more efficient and powerful engine, and it worked. Plus you can run veggy oil in them once diesel gets too expensive, they run better with veggy oil too.

Lol i love how North American economy works or doesn't work. Canada (Alberta) drills for the oil and sells it to the states, the states processes and then sells it back to us at an extra premium, lol what a lose lose situation for both nations, then both countries get screwed for high gas prices and blames it on saudi arabia. lol politics

I woulden't mind one. Be great for those run to the drocery store, 7-11, wawa, and dinner... I would use it everyday, and save the gas for the long trips. Dont need a plug chage, oil change. But, when new batteries are needed... Bam! The cost of those batteries are astounding!

Thats why there high voltage breakers on it. Throw the breaker when working on the batteries.
