Default Improve Security?

I once locked my keys in my running truck
The locksmith inserted a wedge in the top edge of the door and slid a slim jim down inside. I started counting - one, two, thr... click!
Less than 3 seconds and he was in
Now I have some sound equipment and I want to know if there is any way to prevent or deter someone from getting into my truck.
An alarm is a last resort.
Is there some kind of bracket that can be installed in the door to block a slim jim?
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

not really that i have heard of, but you might be able to make one yourself by going into the door and finding the lock linkage and building a cover around it, but then they could just hit the unlock button. there is no other latch set up, cause then you would have to have a second latch on your door frame...

best idea is invest in a GOOD alarm, one that will warn you via remote or cell or what not.

Nothing will prevent someone from breaking into your car. If they want something bad enough they are going to take it.

Sorry, but there's no stopping a determined thief. You can probably make a bracket to prevent a slim jim to reach the lock lever, but that'll only extend your protection by mere seconds.

I had a two way system installed, even if i can't hear the alarm, my truck can warn me.

The best way is not to flash what you got inside, keep it away from the prying eyes.

Hope it helps

Insurance might be the only alternative that would be worth investing.

Ranger Sport,
What kind of alarm did you get?

I will post some pics of my audio soon. I plan on covering the amps with a perforated metal panel or maybe a fabric "curtain"...

I got an autostart with full lcd screen and multiple options i have no use for, but if i had to suggest anything i'd got for a viper system which can even tell ya the temp in your truck!

Maybe i have that option too, i'll have to read the manual someday.

Thanks, Sport!
If I could, I would set up one of those flamethrower anti-terrorist defense systems or mount a snubbie 12 gauge in the headrest...

You could always install god lights on top of your truck like that van in blade 2.

No vampires would dare steal your truck then.

Yes, thieves don't see Richard Simmons before they get the door open then.

It's like a dual stage security.

Yeah, I was just looking at the Viper site and noticed the tinting goodies.

Gotta go - I'll try to get some pics tomorrow and find out how to post them.

Thanks everybody!
