new here what can i do to my 93 4.0 ranger?

I just got my ranger today
it is a 93 with 4.0 engine
its 4x4 STX and has the 5 spd trans and a push button activation tranfercase
well the front shaft spins when 4 wheel is engaged but the tires dont engage since its calling for 20 below windchills tomorrow i am sending it to the shop to install some warn manual lockout hubs so i will have 4x4
i have a new set of 31x10.5x15 tires and rims coming in next week
she starts and runs decent but the idle is always high
it idles around 2000-2100 all the time
once it get warm say 20 mins or so it drops to like 1800-1900
still kinda high
any ideas where to check?
im thinking IAC also would an air filter cause this?
the bolt for the airbox is rusted tight so im going to cut it off tomorrow with the dremel and see the filter
im thinking maybe its to restrincting and causing it to "choke" its self some
not sure here
over all it is in decent shape no real rust minus the very rear rockers by the bumper are basiclly gone but the rest of truck is solid with no rust
any things i can do to mod the truck out? besides lift kits and body thing(it has vent visor and windshield visor
and bed liner)
i am thinking engine wise any power mods, tips tricks
