Default 5K miles, or 5 months?

I was reading my service schedule the other day, and it says that Ranger oil should be changed every 5,000 miles. Nowhere did it say 5 months. I hear everywhere else that it's either 5K miles or every 5 months. I'm not even close to being near 5,000 miles since my last oil change, and 5 months will be coming up soon. I always change the oil early, but I haven't even passed 3k miles since the last change. So should I still change it at 5 months, or should I wait until 5,000 miles?

I change my oil every 4000 Kms which is 2500 Miles, I never make it to the 5-6 month timetable, then again, I check my oil weekly as soon as it hints to darken, I get it changed.

I go with miles instead of months because sometimes I'll go home and put like 700 miles in three days and then once I get back to school I might not drive it for weeks on end. My case may be a little extreme but I still think miles is the way to go.

Yea i'm seriously thinking about changing it early. Mine's got a small leak from the drain plug gasket, so I wanna get that addressed at the same time. I just need to find somewhere that has that gasket. Anybody know offhand what size the drain plug is on a 3.0?

if you buy a new drain plug it should come with the rubber gasket, plus then you can get a magnetic one!

Ask the parts guy about the size of the plug.

If you put more then 5K miles on your rig in 6 months, change it at 5K miles. If you don't, change it in 6 months.

yeah the parts store you get it from should know, i think there should be no issues with it hitting anything in the pan.
