Default Bunch of work this past weekend

I thought I would share my experience of my repairs this weekend. It took 2 good days of about 14hrs a day amd a half a day today to get everything finished up. I replaced the ball joints, 3 axle shaft u-joints. 4 drive shaft u-joints. Replaced the Rear main seal and all axle seals. Replaced the burnt up clutch with new slave and Pressure Plate. I also changed out my stock 3.55 gears over to a set of 3.73 I pulled out of a parts truck last summer. All in all it went pretty good, had to re-seal the front diff as the first attempt did not hold and leaked. lost about 3 hours pulling the front end off again.

The gear swap was extremely easy and required no shimming or setting up. I checked the rears with gear paint and it was spot on. Went from 3.55 open diff to 3.73 L/S diff

The book said the exhaust had to be dropped to take out the trans, HA! I was able to pull it without taking it off. I had to turn the transmisson sideways to the right and was able to slip past the exhaust.

I put in Mobil 1 gear oil in both diffs. I also used mobil 1 can grease to repack bearings and grease everything up.

I have already noticed a power increase in the bottom end over the stock gears and so far is alot nicer for plowing, just a fuzz more on the low side.

sorry, I did not take any pics. I was a nasty greasy mess. I will take some pics of the old clutch tho and post them up.

Yeah I hear ya, thank god for the heated garage, cold floors make it so much worse when you have to lay under the truck for a while
