Default 4x4 problems

I have a 05 FX level II and i did some off roading in some snow and had it in 4x4 high and then by chance i wnet to put it back into 2 wheel but accidenttly put it into 4 low....and it did not engage...the light didnt go on on the dash aswell as i didnt feel the truck engage into it....4 wheel high works fine but it jsut wont engage into 4 low....if any one could give me advice on why it doesnt work and wat to do that would be really appreciated thanks.

Thats because you have to be in neutral in an automatic or have the clutch pushed in with a manual.you also must have your foot on the brake.be patient its takes a couple sec to engage. if you don't have a manual go here Ford Ranger Owners Manuals
