Just so you know, there are few true synthetics. Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Mobil1 Extended Performance are true type IV oils. The majority of synthetic oils out there are actualy super refined conventional oils listed as type III.
As far as filters, Wix, Mobile1, Purolator, and K & N are really good filters. I think the first three are actually all made by the same manufacturer. The Motorcraft filter is good too. Fram is crap. The cardboard end cap on the filter element has been know to break loose on occasion and foul up the oil system.
