dont think you can play that game.
if its not motorcraft it will "meet or exceed oem specs. why pay more for something that would never exceed oem specs?

Yipes.

Btw, motorcraft more than qualifies to be a generic X brand, but to each his/her own, right?

Nice try, going for an obscure part like that.

When you post an argument you're sure to win, take the time to read the reply before you start mouthing off.

Never had to change that part on any vehicle, but it's good to know there are alternatives to un-branded oems. I learn something new every day.

getting back on topic..........here are a few of the products I would recommend ...I came upon these choices using a cost benefit analysis of the price of the part and the required labor needed to install it, the frequency of the part going bad, the degree of durability needed for the part and so on.....Also you need to figure in the factor of whether you are doing the work or paying for labor........some of these parts take literally 10 minutes to swap out but a shop still might charge $75-$100 to do so......You then have to decide is is worth saving $20 on the cheaper part......I have learned some of this from my own hands on experience and some from the thousands upon thousands of post I have read.....remember Motorcraft might not manufacture every part but if they put there name on it they have done the 'vetting" for you......and lastly lets remember the OP started this thread just so he could vent about a bad experience he had with a MC part

sparkplugs=Motorcraft or autolite
wires= Motorcraft or autolite
thermostat=Motorcraft
slave cylinder=LUK
fuel pump= best available at parts store(the Motorcraft is just to much Money)

never had any headaches with moog parts, or airtex, or ngk, e3, borg warner. but i have seen motorcraft parts returned because they diddnt fit, and as stated before, motorcraft is a rebrander. they charge more because they put their name on it.
