Default May purchase Ranger - you guys like 'em?

I am thinking of purchasing a 4cyl 2007 with a lot of miles - 145K - for $4950 and a 24mo/24kmi extended warranty on engine/tranny. It is clean and purrs like a kitten - it was a fleet vehicle and one accident showed up on CARFAX. But like I say - it runs and drives sweet up to 70mhp. Ford has made this little 4 banger peppy - I had a 94 Ranger years ago and it did not move like this.....

Any input on reliability would be appreciated. It will be for my daughter to school and back and me for a little work around the house as required and maybe haul a dirt bike. I gotta dump a money sicking 97 Chevy Blazer with 95K miles.

Thanks and Cheers,
Shawn

As long as you have an extended warranty I think you will be good to go. Just make sure you get the exacts on what is covered under that warranty

If you do it I wouldn't skip on the warranty... but I'm always nervous about buying that many miles.... If you're on a budget though and no one's going to beat on it then sounds fine to me.

Yeah - no doubt I will check the fine print. That is a sh*t load of miles for 3-4 years - but that's what a fleet vehicle does. Maybe delivery or repairman of some sort diving all over Albuquerque.

The warranty makes it attractive - you guys would not believe how nice this engine sounds. And this is coming from a guy with a newer V8 Ford.

Anyhow - thanks for your time guys. I really like the Ranger - so if it aint this one it will be another. Who knows - I might have some fun with it and "fix it up" as we used to say in the 80's......

Yes - it is a bunch of miles huh? I see you have 165K on your Taurus - but thats 10 years older. I have never had a vehicle with that many miles - is it a nightmare? Always in the shop kinda thing? My MO has always been - no payment - no problem. If you buy new you are paying 500 - 1k /month - so 1K a year on mainteneance is no biggie - as long as you trust it to go somewhere farther than the grocery store.

damn... 145,000 in 3+ years? my truck is 10 years old and only has 89,000
If i were you, i really would seek out a truck with less miles. also, fleet vehicles are usually driven hard and die young.

Sounds like it should be fine, make sure to give it a thorough inspection before you lay out any money though.
